Daniel Madison can’t catch a break. His dream job as a political writer has failed to materialize, and his waning confidence hasn’t helped his love life.
Conversely, Julian Correa shines, using charm and unbridled ambition to conquer the Las Vegas political scene and the objects of his desire in the bedroom. A chance encounter brings the two together in a partnership that leads first to loyalty, then betrayal. The inscrutable world of Las Vegas politics is the crucible that will test each of them. Eventually they must compromise their values to “make it,” but each will reach a breaking point.
How they battle greed, criminals, adultery, and inevitably each other, leads them down divergent paths. One will seek to do what’s right—the other takes a more expedient course to power.
And one will choose to take his own life.
Lords of Las Vegas is the story of devious whispers, backroom deals, immorality, and deceit splashed upon the most dazzling canvas on the planet. Not just a study of the real Las Vegas by a real Las Vegan, but also a gripping tale of honor, loyalty, self-respect, and the redemptive quality of justice—all woven into a tapestry of emotion, suspense, and page-turning intensity.

Friendship and betrayal, lust and a lot of corruption, of course, scandal, loyalties questioned, justice vs. injustice, life and death situations---all these are a part of this excellent book! I LOVED it! Didn't want to stop reading it. At first I didn't think I'd like the "political premise" just because of all the political blah-blah-blah going on in 'real' life, but it just opened my eyes to further realities about that world. It was fascinating! I relished that the 'good guys' can win in the end! And yet, the 'bad guy' (Julian) wasn't all that horrible--he just allowed his greed to be manipulated by worse men than he'd ever be. The twist at the end was fabulous! All along, I had a different 'death scene' in my head. EXCELLENT read! Kurt Divich wrote a powerful and well-written story! I am looking forward to MORE books by this fine author. I'm definitely picturing a movie coming from this book! I'll be there! AWESOME!Product details

Lords of Las Vegas eBook Kurt Divich Reviews
Lords of Las Vegas is an amazing book...I couldn't put it down and I believe it would make a riveting movie. I hope Lords makes the big screen! It is well written and keeps you begging for more. I often found myself wanting to return to this movie playing in my head and realized it was the book I was reading. Lords of Las Vegas aroused every sense of my being. Loyalty, Friendship, Betrayal, Lust, Sex, Corruption, Scandal, Life and Death. A battle of morality all dolled up masterfully in 369 pages of black and white perfection. Kurt Divich is a genius at his craft, with his ability to make scenes come to life to the point of mutal loathing or loving for the characters. Heart Pounding, Blood Boiling, and Mind Racing at the turn of every page!
Honest, real and above all, emotionally charged novel!
Once I got a hold of the book, it was hard to put down!
I loved the way Kurt stops, almost removes himself from the main plot, just to describe a detail, something not directly attached to main characters of the novel. Very vivid and full of colour description of places, both in Vegas and Cuba.. Made me feel I was part of the "set"! And last, but not least, you will fall in love with the main character (I will let you choose which one!), a true sign of a well written book!
Having grown up in Las Vegas, I couldn't help but be interested in a book not only set in my hometown but written by an author who grew up there as well. Even though the events take place in Las Vegas, the location is almost irrelevant to the story it could've happened almost anywhere. I must say, though, I got a kick out of reading about places the characters visited that do exist and I have actually been to myself. From the start, the story and characters were engaging. I found myself rooting for both main characters throughout, even though one was portrayed the "good guy" and one the "bad guy". The story was fast-paced and kept me guessing. I found the author's style easy to read yet he used a broad variety of descriptive language to paint the scenery and characters. Since finishing the book, I have recommended it to my friends and family and can't wait to see what they have to say!
All in all, a great read!
I read a lot of books. This book was totally engrossing. The story moved at a very fast pace, with intrigue and really well thought out characters. Good action and dialogue. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and would recommend it highly. And have done so several times.
Explosive beginning that made me say wow. Most authors wait until later in their books to get to the action but Kurt dropped straight into it immediatley. The book is an awesome read with perfect detail of the Las Vegas landscape from the Naked City to the English pub and much more. Characters (politicians, crazy cops, gangsta & a gold digger to mention a few) are so truely believable especially in the City of Sin. Reading the pages I can see it in my mind picturing the story. I think this book is so incredible that Hollywood should take a look at it and make it into an awesome movie!!!
The book begins with a mystery that slowly unravels. I found myself clutching the edges of my kindle from stress and anticipation, unwilling to put it down. The story arc really reminds me of a mafia movie, a slow buildup to an eventual and inevitable downfall. The catch is, you never know who it will be until the very end.
The importance of a few of the minor characters is lost on me and the denouement ties the bow a bit too prettily (that is just a personal preference I suppose), but none of that matters in comparison to what the story accomplishes. Money, power, deceit, drama, intrigue, friendship, and love I really don't know what else to ask for in a political thriller. Kurt somehow manages to avoid the cliches and offers a fresh perspective of Las Vegas. He tells a gripping, gritty tale with an insider's look into Sin City. Definitely a must read and I would love to see an adaptation of this on the bigscreen!
After reading countless novels that were either about a rouge CIA operative taking down a terrorist or a troubled cop catching a serial killer, it was a surprising treat to finish Lords of Las Vegas. Don't let the title fool you; this isn't a book that rests its laurels on the Strip and surrounding casino's. It could just as easily been set in New York, LA, Chicago, etc..... This original novel weaves a compelling story about two men on very different paths in life, yet both seeking redemption in their own way. Once those paths intersect and the lines of friendship and loyalty are blurred by greed and pleasure, the story really heats up and you will have trouble putting it down. The author does a great job of committing to the character development and makes them relatable to everyday people. I found myself thinking about these individuals long after I had finished the book. To me, that is the sign of not just a worthy book, but a prodigious story. The only reason I'm not giving it a five star rating is that this is the author's first novel. Ever since Salinger left the world wanting more after The Catcher in the Rye, I reserve five stars only when an author continue to produce masterpieces. I'm hopeful that this one will.....
